More on the BYD Xia
Looking at the exterior, the car continues the Dynasty family’s “Dragon Face” design starting from the grille. The “Dragon Whiskers” decorative stripes complement the large front grille. Front stripes are also painted in contrasting colors, giving the grille a 3D layered feel. The new “Xia” logo is prominently displayed on the front chrome horizontal bar.
On the side, the front and rear door handles are designed as an integrated unit, while the roofline remains relatively flat. The rear features the latest “BYD” letter badge, and the left side of the tailgate also has the “Xia” character. The vehicle sports the signature Dynasty family’s wraparound taillights.
The new car’s dimensions are 5145/1970/1805 mm, with a wheelbase of 3045mm. It comes standard with 18-inch wheels. Optional features include a small sunroof with a panoramic roof combination, front-side radar, and a rear spoiler with a camera. The vehicle will also feature the Yunnian-C intelligent damping control system, DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, and DiLink 150 smart cockpit.
In terms of power, the vehicle will be equipped with BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology, consisting of a 1.5T engine paired with an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 115kW, while the electric motor provides up to 200kW. The battery capacity is 20.39 kWh, offering a pure electric range of 80 km. According to previous information, the BYD Xia will also offer a 38 kWh battery version with a pure electric range of 145 km, and fuel consumption of 6.5L per 100 km.
With a reported starting price of 289,000 yuan (40,600 USD), the BYD Xia is positioned under existing Denza D9 as the cheapest MPV in BYD’s line-up. Denza D9 starts at 339,800 yuan (47,200 USD) and was the best-selling MPV in 2023 in China. Once launched, the BYD Xia will likely cannablize some sales from the Denza D, while also competing with existing MPV’s in its class like the Toyota Sienna and Buick GL8.
