The BYD Xia plug-in hybrid minivan started presales in China. One of the brand’s dealers in Guangdong province revealed its price range and started taking orders. The entry-level Xia reportedly starts from 289,800 yuan (41,100 USD). The BYD Xia will start domestic sales later this year.
BYD revealed the Xia minivan at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 30. It was previously rumored to be called Tang Max or Zhou. BYD named the new MPV after the oldest Chinese ruling dynasty. This name underlines the flagship status of the Xia MPV.
BYD Xia minivan price range
The BYD dealer in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, exposed the BYD Xia price range in China. According to its announcement, this minivan is available for reservation for 2,000 yuan (285 USD). Since there is no similar post on BYD’s official website or social media, we assume the presales announcement was unplanned.
According to a dealer’s announcement, the new minivan starts at 289,800 yuan (41,100 USD). The price of the top trim BYD Xia reaches 350,000 yuan (49,665 USD). For comparison, the BYD’s Denza D9 minivan costs 339,800 – 600,600 yuan (48,200 – 85,250 USD). So, the BYD Xia is seemingly cheaper than its high-end sibling.
Six features of the upcoming BYD Xia minivan were mentioned in the leaked announcement. They are the fifth-gen DM system, a new PHEV platform, a five-star C-NCAP safety standard, a Dragon Face design language, a transformable cabin, and the DiPilot driving assist system.

According to the MIIT announcement, the BYD Xia has a 36.628 kWh LFP battery. The electric range of this minivan is 145 km (CLTC). The Denza D9 DM-i (see specs) has two battery options: 20 kWh for 103 km and 40 kWh for 190 – 200 km. Under the hood, the BYD Xia MPV has the BYD472ZQB 1.5-liter ICE with a peak power of 115 kW (154 hp). Its fuel consumption with a drained battery reaches 6.5 L/100km.
BYD hasn’t revealed the peak power of the Xia’s electric motor. CarNewsChina previously reported the Xia minivan will adopt a 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor on board. Other features of this car are a DiLink 150 cockpit system and a DiSus-C electromagnetic suspension system.
