Overall, the Aion RT adopts a low-drag fastback shape. The closed front grille is matched with sharp LED headlights, paired with black side mirrors, black window trims, hidden door handles, and a 3.48-meter long panoramic sunroof.

The Aion RT measures 4865/1875/1520 mm, with a 2775 mm wheelbase. The car runs on  215/55 R17 and 235/45 R18 tires. The rim shapes are eye-catching.

The rear is low-key with flat taillights. In the middle is the “AION” letter logo, and under the right taillight is the “RT” logo. The paint is corrosion-resistant and scratch-resistant, according to GAC Aion.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Aion RT is equipped with a 126-line lidar and 27 automotive-grade sensors, powered by the NVIDIA Orin-X platform. The official claimed that the Aion RT can cover 254 vehicle driving scenarios without the need for high-precision maps and can cope with road conditions such as roundabouts and road construction. The intelligent driving software can also be updated via OTA.

So far, the trim declared as revealed by the Chinese MIIT is powered by an electric motor (model TZ180XYXOF51), with two maximum power options of 150 kW (201 hp) and 165 kW (221 hp). The lithium iron phosphate battery pack is supplied by CATL, with an official cruising range of 650 km. Furthermore, the official fast charging time from 30% to 80% is 30 minutes and can be shortened to 18 minutes with the car’s 400 V silicon carbide technology.

Inside, the beige and black color combination cockpit is minimalistic. There is a round steering wheel (which deviates from the popular D-shaped steering wheel seen on Chinese new energy vehicles), an LCD instrument panel, a floating central control screen, air-conditioning outlets below the central control screen, and wireless charging panels as well as cup holders on the center console.

There are also air-conditioning outlets and a central armrest that can be folded inward in the rear row.

  1. Quite disappointing with the looks of it, given the handsome front and rear. The rear looks ungainly and heavy making the design unproportion.
