Chinese NEV maker Li Auto produced over 100,000 Li L6 SUVs in less than five months. The L6 is the brand’s current bestseller. From May 31 to September 13, the company manufactured 80,000 units of this model. So, Li Auto assembles over 750 L6 SUVs per day. This number will increase in the future as Li Auto plans to expand production in Changzhou, Jiangsu province.
Li Auto started the mass production of the L6 crossover (see specs) in Changzhou in April this year. On May 31, the company announced the 20,000th model rolled off the production line. In the next 105 days, the company produced 80,000 more units of L6. This means that Li Auto has assembled 761 models per day. It is a speed of one car every two minutes.
According to official information, Li Auto’s factory in Changzhou has reached an automation rate of 80%. At the moment, it can produce about 800 units of L6 SUV every day. However, there is still room for growth as Li Auto signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jiangsu province. The local government announced it is ready for a further increase in investment in Li Auto. So, both Li Auto and the Jiangsu province govt are ready for further production volume boost.
The Jiangsu government is highly interested in cooperation with Li Auto since its presence in the region is beneficial for economic development. Last year, 30% of parts for Li Auto vehicles were supplied from Changzhou city. And this number will grow in the future.
Back to Li Auto L6, it is the current brand’s bestseller. From April to August, its retail sales volume reached 88,963 units. As for the total retail sales number of Li Auto from January to August, it reached 288,105 units.

The Li Auto L6 is a mid-size five-seat SUV. Its exact dimensions are 495/1960/1735 mm and a wheelbase of 2920 mm. Inside, it has a single block made of two 15.7-inch screens and an 8.8L refrigerator. The powertrain of the L6 comprises a 1.5-liter ICE that works as a generator. Two e-motors for 300 kW (402 hp) power the Li L6. Thanks to the 36.8 kWh LFP battery pack, it can drive up to 212 km in EV mode. The mixed range reaches 1,390 km.
The price range of the Li Auto L6 is 249,800 – 279,800 yuan (35,200 – 39,400 USD). So, it is the Tesla Model Y competitor. Other rivals of the L6 are Aito M7, Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, BYD Tang, and other models.
